this original wren bird nest with eggs spring sketches is a soft mixed media painting done on cotton fabric from the mid-1900's. 
 
the painting has been stretched over a piece of hand-carved birch wood. this antique white wood frame has been custom-made in the U.S. it has a sawtooth hook for immediate wall display.  
 
overall size is approximately 9" in width, and 9" in height. the painting is about .75" in depth. the artwork can be easily re-framed, however i recommend always framing the art under glass.  please display the painting in indirect light to protect the art.  
 
beyond the mid-1900's cotton fabric base, materials include antique sewing thread, pencil, inks, colored pencil, and natural-dyed sashiko thread.  because of the stitching and age of the fabric, it does not lay flat (it wasn't intended to).  however, the piece is meant to have a lot of texture.  framed works are always a bit of a challenge to photograph due to glare, but this painting is a gentle study of springtime in soft green, teal, tan, cream, pink and brown tones.
