this original, textural, mixed media painting of a tree swallow is done on a piece of hand carved birch wood and framed in an antique swinging wood frame from the art deco era. the frame has a lovely age and patina.

a continuation of the objet d'art series: a series of vintage and antique frames filled with original paintings on hand carved birch wood. the art and the frame are considered one piece, and the art has been created for its particular frame.

for the painting: materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. the tree swallow sits on a branch on a background of layered chocolate and brushed gold.

mixed media includes vintage postage stamps, vintage paper, antique doily, handwritten letters from the 1800s, and endsheet book paper from the 1800s. the back of the painting is covered in endsheet book paper from the 1800s as well.

i recommend displaying the painting in indirect light to protect the artwork.

size is approximately 8" in width, and 10" in height. the painting is about 2.5" in depth. all of my paintings can be handled. they look great on their own, or buy a bunch and display them together!
