inspired by the common house sparrows that thrive outside my studio all year 'round.

this original soft tone sparrow bird painting is the ideal addition to a mantle, side table, desk, or shelf. it also has a hanging hook for immediate wall display. this textural, mixed media painting is done on a birch wood block. i occasionally use birch wood for its clean lines and lightweight durability. this particular piece features a male common house sparrow. my studio is surrounded by them year-round-they are always there to inspire!

work is done by hand from start to finish. the materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. the sides of the painting are layered tones of light gray and beige. materials include vintage postage and paper, gold leaf and handwritten antique letters.

size is approximately 5" in width, and 5" in height. the painting is about 1.5" in depth. all of my paintings can be handled. they look great on their own, or buy a bunch and display them together!
