happy birthday, dear bear! how about some honey cake?

this brown bear in a birthday party hat original painting on birch wood is framed in a shadow box wood frame created by US-based Makers: Signed & Numbered. the frame has a hook for immediate wall display and the depth of the shadow box also allows for display on a flat surface. i had the shadow box custom made after my teething puppy got a hold of the painting before it was completed. the painting has been repaired. the painting can be easily removed from the frame, but will require a frame to conceal the evidence of her nibbling. displaying the artwork in indirect light is recommended to protect the image.

the painting is approximately 5x7x1.5". dimensions of the framed piece are approximately 6.25 in width, 8.25" in height, and 2" in depth.

materials include vintage postage stamps and antique handwritten letters. materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. sides of the painting are the layered warm light grey and white of the background behind the bear.
