this original barred owl bird on branch painting is the ideal addition to a mantle, side table, desk, or shelf. it also has a hanging wire for immediate wall display. this textural, mixed media painting is done on a piece of thick, irregularly-shaped reclaimed wood. i buy all of my wood from a local furniture maker, and am never sure what he is going to sell me, which adds to the creative inspiration.

the materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. the barred owl rests on a background of layered brushed brown and gold. base, top and left-hand side are deep brown. right-hand side is brushed brown and gold with the continuation of the branch. materials include vintage paper, gold leaf, copper leaf, antique paper, handwritten letters from the 1800's, and vintage stamps.

size is approximately 9" in width at the widest point and 16" in height. the painting is about 2" in depth at the widest point. all of my paintings can be handled. they look great on their own, or buy a bunch and display them together!
