part of the objet d'art series, this original painting of a cardinal bird couple is framed in a gorgeous antique arts & crafts carved oak easel frame from the art nouveau era (late 1800s through early 1900s). the objet d'art series feature mixed materials paintings created on carved birch wood panels set in antique frames. the painting is made for that particular frame (i envision who would "live" in the frame), so the painting and frame are considered a single art piece. this beautiful frame is in fantastic shape, given its age. mistletoe leaves and berries decorate the frame in the curves and tones of the art nouveau era.

for the male and female cardinal portraits: materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. materials include book lining paper from the 1800s, handwritten letters from the 1800s, vintage paper and vintage postage stamps, along with 18k gold leaf.

size is approximately 9.5" in width and 19.5" in height. about .5" in depth. the cardinal bird portraits are 3x4".
